Bridlington Lions help Bridlington Blades

After receiving an appeal from the Bridlington Blades Fencing Club for help in providing specialist equipment for disabled fencers, Bridlington Lions Club readily agreed to purchase two Kevlar woven metallic aprons for the use of those fencers who have to use wheelchairs. The aprons, which fit around the waist and cover the ankles of wheelchair users, help to record touches from the blades of their opponents.

At a recent presentation evening at East Riding Leisure centre, the Lions were thanked for their generosity and Bridlington Blades can now offer places to disabled fencers. They hold classes at East Riding Leisure centre on a Thursday evening from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm but will be closing for Easter, reopening on 4th May 2017. For further information and help, please contact Joy Fleetham on 01262 675542.
