Lion President Remarks for the Coming Year
On 14th July Lion Dave Vernon handed over the Presidency of Bridlington Lions Club to Lion John Bayne, but before doing so he presented Lions Harry Simpson(91) and John Vegeris(85) with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their long and dedicated service to the club. He was also delighted to be able to present a Melvyn Jones Fellowship to Lion John Hall. This is the highest award a Lion can get and is awarded to John for over 20 years of dedicated and loyal service.
Lion President John said that he wants to continue and build on the links with schools (especially the secondary ones) that have been made in this last year.
The club in this coming year will be hoping to continue to be a successful club which is the envy of many.
Although we are a big club on numbers, a significant number are less able physically and so we will be looking to add Ladies to our number but also find more Friends of the Lions who are happy to be extra hands when necessary but can’t commit to attending lots of meetings. In this way we will be able to fulfill our activities to the community.
In addition to the Carnival, Bonfire and Carol Concert we are holding a Childrens Funfair Day which will become an annual event.
The year ahead promises to be fun and action packed.
