Last year saw the launch of a new joint venture between Bridlington Lions Club and North Wolds Lions Club – a photographic competition for primary schools in Bridlington and the surrounding area.
The competition for 2011 has just been completed with classes of Year 6 pupils from eleven schools taking part. Each class was given two disposable cameras and asked to take up to 48 photographs, the subject being “The Living World”. The cameras were then sent for processing after which the photographs were returned to the schools and the pupils asked to select what they thought were the best six pictures. Mike Barnard of Images Photography, kindly agreed to carry out the judging to determine the winner and runners-up.
This year’s winner was Burlington Junior School with runners up Burton Agnes CEVC Primary School and New Pasture Lane Primary School. All the schools who took part in the competition receive a Certificate of Achievement, and the eight schools who were not placed receive a small lion as a consolation prize.
