Friday 20th November was a special day for Bridlington Lions Club as they celebrated their 52nd year serving Bridlington and the Worldwide Community. At an Anniversary Dinner and Dance held at the
Bridlington Links Golf Club, Past District Governor, Lion Peter Jay said grace, followed by a beautiful four course meal.
Lion President Gordon Boyes then started the toasts with a toast to the Queen. This was followed by the Bridlington Round Table’s President Mr Martin Helbrow, and his Vice President Mr David Ball toasting Lions Clubs International and also mentioning some of the projects their club is involved with. A response was given by Nigel Ware, District Governor for District 105C; a speech full of humour and helpful advice. Finally the Ladies and Guests were toasted and a very informative speech mentioning some of the years commitments, was given by Lion President Gordon Boyes. This was followed by a very sincere but amusing response given by Rev. John Hughes from St. Johns Burlington Church.
After bouquets were presented, it was time for the dancing, music provided by ‘Total Recall’. The Toastmaster for the evening was Lion John Bayne.
