On Wednesday 16th July, ‘The Tigers’ made up of Priya and Kavita, Chloe and Claire met members of the East Riding Lions. Over the summer, ‘The Tigers’ are raising awareness of bullying and the effects it has on young people. The team have produced and filmed their own DVD, which they have taken into Bridlington Secondary schools to open a debate, highlighting the impact bullying has on young people’s lives, to make bullies stop and think and to empower those affected to get help.
East Riding Lions have been long term supporters of the Humberside Police Lifestyle project, clubbing together to provide two Lifestyle teams with a PGL team building adventure experience at the prestigious Lifestyle Awards in November as a result of their Lifestyle community endeavours.
Lion Eileen Smith said, “The Lions are delighted to support the Humberside Police Lifestyle project again this year, as it inspires so many young people to undertake good deeds within their local communities, by improving the quality of life for others, fitting perfectly with the ethos of the Lions.”
Eileen continues, “Lifestyle has given teams such as ‘The Tigers’ a voice to tackle issues they face through the project. It also provides them with confidence and raises their self esteem to make a difference to the lives of others.”
