Today, teams from Bridlington School, 6th Bridlington Guides, 1st Bridlington Scouts and Headlands School have attempted to set a World Record for laying a mile of 2p coins.
Due to the weather we had to move the event from the Spa Esplanade to the Spa Royal Hall, making space limited for spectators.
Teams worked really hard to make what might be a World Record time of 2 hours, 50 minutes and 54 seconds. At the moment it is unknown as to whether the teams have got the record – time will tell as a report needs to go off to Guinness World Records for the evidence to be verified.
Throughout the week we have had mentions on the Radio, and today Lion John Hall was heard on the news talking about the record attempt that was going to take place in the afternoon. BBC Look North were there with the presenter and reporter Emma Massey who posted a report on the local evening news.
A round up of events was on Look North on Monday 4th June and the 2p record attempt appeared on there as well:
Everyone had a very enjoyable afternoon – we will have to wait to see if we have a Guinness World Record.
Bridlington Lions would like to thank the independent adjudicators and the sponsors of the event and anyone else who assisted in anyway to make this event possible.
