Some estimates put the number close to 20,000 people attending the car boot and the Carnival.
The car boot started at 7am with around 140 cars coming on to site.
Proceedings for the Carnival started at 1030am with a small procession which was led by the Bridlington Air Training Corp Drummers closely followed by the Mayoress Councillor Shelagh Findlay, and Bridlington Lions President Les, Stage Door Theatre Company, the Makari Morris Dancers, Bridlington Round Table with Pudsey Bear, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Disability Bikes.
The Mayoress announced that the Carnival was officially open at 11am.
Although the parade was a small one, it is only the beginning of something that we hope will turn into a much larger event that will pull more people in to the carnival as time progresses.
With nearly 90 stalls, games and rides to entertain people it sure was a busy carnival, getting more people than we have had in many years.
As well as stalls we also had classic cars and motorcycles. Even the land train was wearing our bunting.
There was a dog show with lots of entries to keep everyone entertained, including the dogs.
Entertainment was great. We had a central stage which was provided by Richard Hayton Transport. The PA system was provided by Alan Winter of Mixerman, who did a superb job of keeping everything ticking along nicely on stage and helped with continuity of other entertainment going on around the Carnival.
The entertainers that we had were Sticklebricks, and Shamrock Express. Between the bands playing Stage Door Dance Studio and the Red Admiral Majorettes took centre stage and wowed the crowds that had gathered.
We had other entertainment areas also. On these we had American Wrestlers, Buskers, the RAF Cadet Drummers, Bridlington Martial Arts and the Makari Morris Dancers, Punch and Judy, Magic Mal, Balloon Modellers and a face Painter.
We would like to thank everyone that attended the 2014 Bridlington Lions Carnival and Car Boot Sale. Without members of the public coming to support us and Lions Club members, none of this would be possible. Thanks also go to the sponsors who helped us put on this event.
