On December 3rd we were very pleased to have the assistance of members of the East Riding College come and join us at Queensgate Park for a spot of bulb planting.
There were around 1700 daffodil bulbs to plant weighing in at around 125kg. Without the assistance of the 23 students from the the Public Services Course it would have been hard work getting them all planted before spring!
The planting of the bulbs is a project which is a part of the Lions Centennial Challenge which aims to reach 100 million people through engaging our youth, working in the environment, relieving hunger and sharing the vision.
The Public Services Course gives students the opportunity to find out more about the roles, responsibilities and purpose of the public services and is aimed at giving them an insight into a career in public services such as the Army, the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force, the police, the fire and rescue service, HM Coastguard, the prison service or the ambulance service.
