Spectacles Recycling

make a differenceHave you old or unused spectacles you no longer need? Bridlington Lions Club has teamed up with Opticians in Bridlington to recycle the glasses. They are now being collected in specially provided blue bins at the opticians in town. The opticians taking part in the scheme are Langtons on Prospect Street, Specsavers on King Street and Old Town Optometrists on High Streets. Glasses can also be taken to the Lions Book Shop on Prospect Arcade.

A collection of the spectacles is made regularly and put into boxes. The boxes are then sent to a central depot in Essex run by Chichester Lions Club. From there, they will be sent for reuse at eye camps in Africa, India and Eastern Europe.

During November Bridlington Lions Club have collected 390 spare of spectacles that will be used for improving the sight of people.

The Lions Christmas Carol Concert will be held at the Spa on Monday December 14th with doors opening at 6pm. The concert starts at 7pm. Entry is free.
