Summer Carnival 2012

Birds of Prey, motorcycles, a climbing wall and bouncy castles came together on Sunday to make the annual Bridlington Lions Carnival a great success. Even the sun made an appearance which makes a huge change on previous years.

This years carnival started off early in the morning with a very successful car boot sale which attracted many car booters keen to sell their unwanted items.

Thousands of visitors flocked to the cliff tops between Limekiln Lane and Sewerby to have a go on many of the fairground rides and take part in some of the entertainment at what has become one of the main outdoor events on the Yorkshire Coast.

This year the crowds were entertained by a display by birds of prey, children of the mist pipe band, Bridlington Girls Choir and ferret racing.

New this year was a flight simulator, a pig racing stall, zorb balls, micro cars and classic cars.

Around 40 Harley Davidson motorcycles paraded along the cliff top road to assemble for viewing by the public.

This year the weather has been very kind to us said Simon Gregson of Bridlington Lions, at least the rain was very brief and did not affect the carnival and car boot.

The next event run by the Bridlington Lions is the car boot sale on Bank Holiday Sunday, 26th August on the cliff top between Bridlington and Sewerby starting at 7am. This years annual bonfire and firework display is now on Saturday 3rd November.
